{"id":87,"date":"2009-11-05T10:47:41","date_gmt":"2009-11-05T08:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"\/en\/?p=87"},"modified":"2022-10-14T11:26:16","modified_gmt":"2022-10-14T09:26:16","slug":"monitoring-of-long-legged-buzzard-in-mykolaiv-region-in-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raptors.org.ua\/en\/87","title":{"rendered":"Monitoring of Long-legged Buzzard in Mykolaiv Region in 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We have been carried out the monitoring of Long-legged Buzzard in Mykolaiv area since 2000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2009 <strong>8<\/strong> of <strong>10<\/strong> traced cases of breeding were successful (one breeding case was informed by Pavlo Panchenko). Reasons of unsuccessful breeding attempts were the following: in one case birds abandoned the nests, probably because of disturbance (the vicinity of Ochakov City); in another case the old nest, existed for many years, turned out to be strongly inclined, and under the tree we discovered a fallen chick in the second downy plumage. We place the chick back to the repaired nest but its further fortune is unknown.<\/p>\n<div id=\"rglr\"><\/div>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>As a part of nests were examined from ground we didn\u2019t always manage to identify the exact number of chicks.  In general, the breeding success of the species was average \u2013 <strong>2.1<\/strong> chicks per a successfully breeding pair. One nest contained <strong>4<\/strong> fledglings, other \u2013 <strong>3<\/strong>, all the rest had <strong>1-2<\/strong> fledglings. One of the nests had <strong>2<\/strong> chicks and <strong>2<\/strong> addled eggs. The highest number of chicks had the pair nested near the colony of the spotted sousliks.<\/p>\n<p>According to data of previous years (since 2000), averagely <strong>2.2<\/strong> fledglings left nests, at this <strong>80%<\/strong> of traced breeding attempts were successful. <\/p>\n<p><em>Konstantin Redinov, Regional Landscape Park \u2018Kinburnska Spit\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have been carried out the monitoring of Long-legged Buzzard in Mykolaiv area since 2000.
